1986 - 1992:DTI developed the basic theoretical tenets of 3D flat panel displays. Awarded a number of small grants from various government and research organizations to pursue the technology.
1992:Built a flat panel display (FPD) backlighter for the David Sarnoff Research Center that increased the resolution of an LCD.
1993:Designed and built an in-cockpit autostereoscopic 3D display for the "Advanced Cockpit of the Future" simulator at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; designed and built a full animated holographic 3D display for NASA.
1994:Earned the R&D 100 Most Significant New Products of the Year Award.
1995:DTI 3D adopted as the remote vision device for the manipulation of robots in hazardous areas such as radioactive waste remediation and deep hole mining.
1996:Developed a 2D/3D backlighter replacement system for LCDs that allowed manufacturers to replace the standard 2D backlighter in products like laptop and desktop computers, gaming devices and technical workstations to permit low cost, high quality 3D performance.
1997:2012XL 12" 3D Virtual Window LCD Display introduced as a standalone product. Overwhelming press coverage puts the product on the front cover of numerous design, computer and engineering magazines.
1998:The original 15" 3D Virtual Window LCD display designed, developed, and introduced.
1998:DTI 2018XL 18" 3D Display adopted by NASA as the display device for the Virtual Clinic program.
1999:Declining LCD prices and manufacturing economies allow the price of the 15" and 18" displays to be reduced, making them more affordable to more organizations. Hundreds are sold.
1999:DTI awarded a contract by National Science Foundation to develop a flicker-free color projection system.
1999-2000:18" 3D Virtual Window LCD display introduced. Top New Technology Awards or Finalist recognition received from New Equipment Digest, Product Design and Development Magazine, Discover Magazine.
1999-2000:DTI awarded a contract by the U.S. Navy to develop a high definition (HD) projection system for flight simulators.
2001:The 2015XLS 15" 3D LCD Display is introduced at a very affordable $1699. Dozens of webmasters and magazine editors line up to review this amazing product, and the reviews are quite complimentary.
2003:DTI and the Virtual Window are inducted into the Space Technology Hall of Fame.
2006:The new Virtual Window 17 and 19 are officially launched with dramatic improvements in brightness, resolution, and overall functionality.
